Kirby Kennedy was only 18 years old when he first found out that his kidneys were not working properly. The sad news was shocking to the active teen who was preparing for college. In the college, Kirby realized that he wanted to become a pastor. He always prayed that God would preserve his kidney to give him an opportunity to serve God. For nearly forty years, the man was able to live and work without any kidney problems, but in 2012 doctors revealed that his kidney wouldn’t hold out much longer. Kirby was placed on the transplant list. His friends and family were tested in hope to donate a kidney, but no one was a match.
One day the man wrote a post explaining his situation on Facebook hoping that maybe it would help to find a donor. Then a real miracle happened. Kirby received a short message from a man named Ricky Bybee. It read: “I’m your man!”
As it turned out, Ricky felt a calling to donate a kidney, and fortunately, he was a match.
Kirby’s daughter said: “As soon as Kirby woke up in recovery, he asked to see Ricky, the donor, before he was brought to his room. There was not a dry eye in the room.”
Then two men developed an unbreakable bond. It was a life-changing moment for both of them.
What a wonderful story! Don’t forget to share it with your friends and family!
